Hi Amrita,
There is no special qualification required to join IT HR. IT Companies like any other, prefer someone who broadly understands the business and is fairly savvy on the Computer.
The bigger challenges and demands are : good in computers (office package), good communication and e-mailing abilities, quick at work in a dynamically changing environment, and, preferably knowledgeable about the various technical skills in the Company and ability at talent acquisition. Knowledge or ability to understand technical projects/processes is the bigger advantage apart from good HR conceptual clarity.

Qualification is not an important i do agree but the Technical skills part is required.. this i am saying because i am an HR Recruiter for IT Company for US process u see to take an Interview u have to check the profile of a consultant..and in it for example u get a skill set called .NET so if u know any thing regarding .Net u can ask question as an interviewer if u donno any about he says u listen and accept what he is telling so totally in no time he will know that u r not sound in Tech skills right... so for that u need to know nearly 60% at leat of the technical skills
Just Log in to Corp-Corp | IT Consulting & Contracting Job Portal and at the bottom of the page there are four types of tech skills separately listed so u just make sure u know 50% of it were it ca nbe differentiated i mean the skill and what tools cums under which skill then it will be easy for u
If u make 50% then the consultant educate u the other 50%.....bye take care

It depends on role. Is it HR or IT Recruiter?
If it is HR position than more than IT knowledge, it will be HR knowledge and experience which matter for the organization.
HR Rules and Regulations are more important for HR position.
If it is IT Recruiter position than IT knowledge plays more vital role than HR knowledge. For IT Recruiter basic skills like good communication, MS Office, Outlook or Outlook Express, Internet Explorer or Firefox along with other knowledge in terms like Developer, Tester, Analyst, DBA, etc are important.
Hope this helps. Otherwise let us know if you need more help.
