thats one question..i ask myself every night and shed a tear or two..hehe..jokes apart :D
the answer i give..which is genuine for me is..
i have an avid interest in Human Psychology and was also one of thr top scorer in university..so i got into the line of HR coz i think..Psychology is a major/integral/vital part of it. An HR person needs to have a very sound hand at industrial and organizational psychology, without which he cant function well.

Dear Fahim,
"Why you choose HR for your career" .
Very apt question for a person who attends an interview for an HR post!
During my career spanning 31 years, I have seen thousands of people landing in a wrong position/job. They are also helpless because there could be many many reasons like wrong guidance, wrong selection, last resort for getting a job, myths etc., I feel before getting into any job for that matter, one should ask himself/herself - why I chose this job? If he gets more positive answers, he should select that job or just leave it.
As regards to HR job, yes one should not accept it as a last resort. As one of our friends say it involves study of human psychology and organisational psychology. Not only that, these criteria is for us to understand the other person infornt of us but more than that we should be humane! We work in an Organisation as a link between the workers and the management and hence we have to have lots of patience, empathy, love, tenderness and at the same have the tough heart to tackle any non-sense! The HR person should be worker oriented in front of the Management and Management oriented in front of a workman. He should do lot of listening by which he can solve 50% of the workers problems.
From the Management platform, the HR person should have vision to participate in the growth plan of the Organisation with support from the Human Resources angle. Human Resources Management is not only managing people but also how to tap the human resources for the growth of the Organisation is the key.
If you are really interested in all these and much more, you say these reasons fascinated me and hence I chose HR as my profession.
Last but not the least....you can do justice to HR profession only if Humanbeings are close to your heart.

Mr. Srinaren, Im delighted to read such an answer. It makes me proud to be an HR. I wish ppl concentrate more on giving the necessary guidance to youngsters like us than on sensual matters.
Thank you very much Mr. Srinaren for suggesting one self to be humane, just not human.
