There is no fixed structure for Salary, for any Organisation. Basic, DA, HRA are the commonly used heads, and there are end number of allowances, which you have choice, to select. E.g. Conveyance, travel, medical, education, festival, newspaper, furnishing, meal, fuel, house maintenance, and so on. Even above stated, DA, HRA are not mandatory to show in break-up.
Considering taxation aspect, to provide maximum benefits to employees, Company selects Heads, and its percentage, wisely. E.g. HRA, Conveyance etc are exempted to certain extent, from tax perview.
Also, one has to take care of BASIC & DA, since many calculations like PF deduction, Bonus payment etc. relates to these items.
Above stated few lines are only primary thoughts. It requires in-depth study to finalise an Organisation’s salary structure.

The commonly used salary structure in most of organizations is Generally Basic is equal to or approximately near by 50% of your CTC, after this certain constant heads are their i.e. Education Allowance and Convenience Allowance which are Rs. 200/- for each child and Rs. 800/- respectively which is rebate from tax up to this limit then come with HRA i.e. certain different limit of HRA for metropolitan and non metropolitan cities. after that it is comes to other Allowance which is used to make up the difference.
With this some legal compliance also their i.e. PF /P.Tax/Gratuity etc. which are also constant and make a part of your CTC.
