Now you want to make a foray into HR with engineering back ground. thus you are pitted against those with hard core HR experience.I think you should start afresh all over again. however if you are clear about your switch over, you can still make it.First focus on recruitment jobs in I.T sector. However You need to cleverly design your CV.Since you have on hand experience of I.T jobs, your CV shall reflect your knowledge of job profile of various I.T jobs and the knowledge of skill sets required for such jobs and how such knowledge helps you in identifying right man for right job. after some experience with recruitment try to get into HR generalist profile.

Hello Ms.Janaki
Why not? It is always possible. Try for a break in I.T industry since you can relate your hard core I.T experience to HR by integrtaing your skills in designing job profile and identyfing people with right skills for aspecific job etc and even assessing their performance an d analysing their training needs etc.You have a definite cahnce in HR.

It is a question that needs to be answered by you because it is you who wants to switch over to HR. If you are not able to answer means you are not clear in your mind. It is necessary for you to be very clear as to why you should change over to HR so as to ensure that you have taken a correct decision. Some questions that may help you to find out the reason are :

1)Is it that you have personal issues with working conditions in a software company like unceratin working hours or late night sittings or sedentary job etc? or

2)you don't like the nature of job like programming or data processing or web designing etc? or

3)Is your nature an extrovert kind and a software job does not fit into it? or

4)Do you like human development issues? or

5) Is there not much scope for career growth vertically in a software industry which you may be aiming? or

6)Is the stress level more in soft ware industry and you want to switvh over to a more soft jobs like training or organisational devlopment etc?

Ask such questions more and you will understand the reason and present that reason in positive prespective convincing ly in the interview.

Trust this will help you.
