As far Performance Appraisal process is concerned by and large the process is same across the spectrum of industries. Cycle of measurement could be either quarterly or half-yearly. The difference from one industry to another is about measures of performance.

Though the heading of the post is about KPO, the reply is applicable to logistic industry as well. In the above link you will get several further links. I recommend you going through each link and understand the comprehensiveness of the Performance Management System (PMS). I say so because what you need to establish is PMS and not just stop at PA.
Before designing the PA process, you need to map your operational processes as well. You need to identify the process owner for each process. Secondly, you need to identify the various costs associated with your business. Essence of your PA will lie in assigning these costs to each department.
