Dear Harini
I liked the idea suggested by Mridulika. Remember, it has to be a cultural activity.
Why don't you get opinion poll done (during lunch and breaks) among different categories of employee, it will give you a fair idea (how to go about it). Also it will be a democratic idea from the employee front.
You can easily make out the value of democratic idea in an industrial set-up or manufactoring setup. Generating ideas (employee participation in decision making) and it's process is a good tool for employee engagement as well as in creating sense of belongingness, no matter these ideas are used in a broader terms or not.

Dear Harini,

When you arrange cultural activities you should keep in mind that every one is been taken into consideration, there are many employees from different religion different region, different age group, different Grades and most important different Genders. So this part is most important than the arrangement.

As few members have already suggested few examples, I would like to just add few more.

The cultural program should be in combination of different activities and games

Games

Tug-of-war - Between different depts, Admin Staffs vs Prod Staffs or with different Grades.

Duck, Duck, Goose ! – For both Male/ Female employees

Rangoli Competition – For Females Employees

Matching Games – Tradition dress of there region

Concentration Games - For both Male/Female

Musical Chair – Group activity for Females

Performing Arts Programmes

Musical prog - Individual/Group

Dance prog - Individual/Group

Drama - Individual/Group

Other Programmes

Art and craft programs - For Female staffs

Sharing True Stories - Any individual

Cultural Trip

For the Staffs in a group

May be these help u in your cultural programs arrangements.

Dear Harini,
As a junior member of this CiteHR I can suggest you something which is you can organise some cultureal prog. on the foundation day of your Org. where you can engage all the employee of diff community to participate the prog.
As already some members suggest you some diff. prog name can select any one from them but keep in mind that every one should participate the prog. including your boss ....
You can arrange a small drawing competion also just like " tare jamin par..." may be you/your Org can find a star/ a famous one withing your org.
Anyway this is just a suggestion.. but I can say if you go thru the same it is enjoyable...
Thanks

Dear Marini,
Many of our members have posted best suggestions for you. If the motive is to organize Cultural activities, then Traditional Day & The Traditional ramp show is a nice idea which you can think to conduct.
You can form the teams where each can compete for Group Dance/Group Song of various states. Like Punjabi Bhangra, Bengali dance, etc.
Presenting so much diversities of our India on Cultural day will add beautiful day & a great experience.

I worked with an organization from to April 2008.
They were not settled my a/c and not issued me Final statement where as they submitted to Income tax department with 3months(April,May and June 2008 ) salary and paid Rs.2000 as income tax for the year ended 2008-2009. They can file like that without paying any amount to me?.
I will have to show this amount in my IT returns.

Dear All,
Even I am looking out for some innovative ideas for cultural activities.....I am working with a Jewellery Manufacturing firm & we have 150 employees. I am looking out for activities which will help them to increase their creativity........Traditional Day is not possible because all production staff wear Uniform before entering into factory.
Thanks & Regards,
