Hi, How does one make the induction process a special one for a batch of inductees without incurring heavy cost? Any training games suggestions? Regards, Manesh Kumar

Primarily an Induction process means welcoming new joiners, speak to them about your organization, highlighting achievements, work culture, policies to follow, growth plan, appraisal system, training & development programs and motivational activities etc..
Keep it more like a hand holding, emphasize on Fun @ work, rather than explaining a long 'not to do list'. this really helps.
You can have some icebreaker games (available on this forum), to make the new staff comfortable. Let them know that HR team there to take care of them, so that they do not feel alienated in a new work place.
Hope I made sense.

Hi,
The way I handle Induction in my organziation is primarily, call all new joinees and then send a mail to all heads to invite them.
The programme is half a day and then starts off with some funny games to help them feel comfortable, then we tell them all the company policies etc and end with games and some small prizes like pens or key chains, finally we ask them for feedback and close it!!
Hope it helps you...

The way we do it; Send a general e mail about the new recruit to all the staff in the orgnisation with the copy to the new employee. The new recruit is then personally introduced all the departmental heads. This is followed up with a detailed induction schedule from day 3 onwards in all departments, for about 2 days.
Ofcourse ours is a small organisation and it has been working fine for us.

The part about sending mails to the heads to invite the new employees sounds really good. I'm sure it makes the employees feel special. Thanks for the tip!

Thw way we do it is by sending "New hire intimation mails" to whole staff. The new person spend a whole day with HR. the from the next day onwards we make him visit to all the departments and gather the necessary information about the various function. this goes on for 3 days. then he is handed over to the department head for the OJT.
Wat you can do is that you can have a quiz sesion with the new joinee to see that what he has learnt during intial days. if the knowledge levels seems less you can plan another 1 -2 days process. If the persons seems to aqire a good knowledge company can gift hi something as a token . Hee will also feel; good.
