I am surprised to see such query from the member who professes to be an HR GENERALIST.
Ignorance of Law is not an excuse; especially for a HR professional knowledge of such provisions is a must.
Raising or having such basic queries, question the competence and education of such concerned HR and invite ridicule for the profession.

In India, it is MANDATORY , to give a Holiday(Fully paid leave) on ALL the National Holidays and also on the National / State/ Municipal/ Local Election day.

yes it is mandatory to give off on national holiday but you can take perimission from local labour inspector to work on that particular date, however remeber that you have to pay thrice the wages on that date including c/off

Dear Sir, the List of Holidays in Maharashtra is more than 4. The List of Govt. Holidays in India,on a STATE level, differs according to the diff states.
I believe they are NOT included under NATIONAL holidays.
