The requirement for Chemical units are as follows.
For chemical industry, you have to do a little survey on following lines:
1/ Write down the name of the chemicals that is being used/manufactured in the factory
2/ Ascertain chemical is confined to floor ( require chemical resistant sole) or it is also likely to come as splashes on the footwear ( in such case you need
chemical resistant upper).
3/ Electrical Hazard. I will advice you to go for antistatic footwear as Electrical hazard footwear can ignite inflammable chemicals.
4/ You have to choose appropriate sole material that can withstand the chemical used in your workplace. There is a chart available for this which is available with me.
5/ if there are broken pieces of glass also on the shop floor, you will require steel mid sole in addition to steel toe cap.
In metal working units you need:
Safety footwear with steel toe cap & steel mid sole.
If there are hot areas above 150 degree C & below 300 degree C you need vulcanised Nitrile rubber sole. Otherwise PU sole will work.
