I have done Masters in Social Work and is working with one of international NGO working in field of Child and Youth Care and Development. I am at mid management level. I had 8 years of experience in development sector only and have good understanding of my field. Now I want to do MBA as I feel this good time to enhance my skills in peoples management, people development and operations management. As often I feel these are areas where I need to focus upon; also this will help me to grow further in form of enhanced skills, better performance and positive impact on my productivity.
Now I am confuses between what I do MBA or PGDM in HR/Operation Management or any other course in Non Profit Management. Please also suggest good institute offering courses in distance mode. ( I had gone through few previous discussions and still feel that I need individualised support/suggestions).

Whether it is a profit making organisation or non-profit organisation, principles and practices of management do not change. Secondly, in either organisation people work. Therefore, people issues also remain same. To drive the organisation to attain its goal, optimum utilisation of the resources is also important. Against this backdrop, MBA course with whatever specialisation you do is important.
In commercial organisation, while influencing customers to buy a product/service is important. In non-commercial organisation influencing the people or organisations to donate funds is important.
I would like to keep HR, Marketing and Operations in the order of priority. While MBA (Ops) is quite interesting and challenging, the subjects like Production Management, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Production Scheduling may not be that useful considering your past career.
