In our company we have and off-in-liue policy against extra hours worked by employees. I mean an eight hours extra hour shall gat one day off-in-liue Leave. But thats only for executives and not for non-executives/workers. to workers we pay OT anyway.

Dear friends,
This is an old thread but I have one related question. In most of the MNCs employees work late and are not paid overtime. The labour laws exempt the payment of overtime to people employed in managerial and adminstrative capacity which has been eloborated in some judgements to mean people employed in supervisory capacity.
In real situation, not all employees can be in supervisory capacity but they are getting far more than minimum wages (but ironically that is not the crieteria to pay overtime)
How do companies resolve this problem?

Dear Preeti,
I am not aware of the other State Shops Act but according to the Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishment in my opinion all persons employed including that of supervisors, managers etc. are covered under the definition of the employee & thus they are also entitled to receive O T Payment in accordance with section 7 of this Act. Now it is up to them whether they want to have relief under this Act or not.

Hiii Swatii,
First of all you can distribute all the employees in level according to thier salary... and you can fix Overtime and C-Off acc. to thier level..
For exmaple employees having salary 3000-4000 CTC, you can distibute them in lowest level and you can pay them overtime .. and for staff level you can give C-OFF.
You can pay double of basic of one hour as overtime ..... and you can also start to pay FULL DUTY ALLOWANCE who are present for all the 31 days.....

Hi Swathi,
First find our the resource which is missing in your QC Department.
incentives & comp off are not the only way to satisfy the ee' of course er' too for long term.
find out the cause for making the QC people to work for 31 days & long hours hope by this way you can permanently arrive a solution!!
Believe you have to act swiftly since its a ee satisfaction issue.
