Boolean Search Explained for Recruiters





Boolean search is a very important tool in sourcing from job boards or search engines. Using Boolean search, you can filter out irrelevant resumes from the resume database and retrieve resumes with the required skill sets. It eases our sourcing efforts to a great extent. Boolean search works based on logic.

Here, I will try to explain how to use Boolean operators effectively to extract the most suitable profiles from the resume database.

HighTea from Timesjobs




Recently, I came across an article on the Timesjobs blog where they have summarized 10 new features they introduced in 2009. Many of the features are enhancements or modifications of what was already there, but some are new and good. One feature that I particularly liked is HIGH TEA. They introduced this feature in March 2009.

Applicant Tracking System - Zoho Recruit




Till now, many of the recruitment consulting companies in India have been using spreadsheets to track applicants. However, considering the amount of information (email id, contact details, schedules, status) that needs to be maintained and updated, using an applicant tracking system is a much better choice. Nowadays, there are many such applications available in the market that help in managing the recruitment process. But many of them are either costly or not convenient.

Recently, Zoho launched an online applicant tracking system called Zoho Recruit. Previously, it was a part of Zoho People, but now they have introduced it separately. For those who are unaware, Zoho is an Indian startup with a range of products in online office application systems.

Simply Hired, the largest job search engine network, recently announced some new social job search features through integration with LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. Let's have a look at them.

They have introduced two main features:
1) LinkedIn Mash-up
2) Share with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn contacts.
