Certainly not a marketing project.Infact I feel you can do a real good job if you plan and make excels of all that you do and then study the actual recruitment process.
The fact that you have deadlines is really good as in the real world scenario too youll have deadlines be it any profile.So its truely in your hands to make this job a summer project and actually leran from your own experience.

I would like to know why it is not a HR project....I do agree it is not the typical kind of data collection and analysis project.
At the end of this 'exercise' from a learning point of view dont you think the individual will know what recruitment is all about and what are the pluses and minuses in it? Is'nt that a great value-add on CV? Is there any specific issue that I am missing out here - which is linked to recruitment of agents?
Please correct me if I am wrong - Recruitment & Selection is an integral part of HR.

U can go with this project coz it will give u practical experience of market but u shd not give much time on that simulteneously u can take a good HR project for the same company . Like if u r recruiting agents,along with it u can take ' study on satisfaction level of employees or insurance advisor' or any other related project. So u can have practical market experience as well as HR learning. And will get stipend also.

I faced a similar situation 2 yrs back, I underwent such training for 1 day, but then opted out, actually its more on sales, if you match it from the employees KRA it is part of the sales force (unit managers) not the HR people, who hire the UMs. These advisors are part-timers, not on the company payroll but on commission.
Actually, this is one of the strategies to increase their advisors.
As this is not a full time training and you can work at flexible timings, you can even undergo this training along with some other core HR training. It would be beneficial to you to be associated with some company where HR practices can be monitored, like some corporate office or manufacturing unit or HR outsourced firm.

Thanks all for sharing ur opinion. I think its a combination of HR n Mrktg. project. So here we will hav an endless discussion/debate on it. I think its more HR-part for the project trainee but its a marketing -part for the agents.
Actually i would like to share abt how i m proceeding in this prjt., as many people like Kumar Manoj wanted to hear it from me . Actually from the day i hav joined , i m working on it without negligence. I m visiting various small institutes to motivate the students (by giving simple presentations on the matter), and then following up the interested candidates. Sometime one or two seniors from the org r accompanying me on such visits. I m also contacting all possible persons who can do it or can giv references.
