If no Appointment Letter has been given to your friend then there is no need to worry about notice period. However if any document has ever been exchanged then suggest your friend to go through it once, just to cross check.

You have not been given appointment letter so far that means you are not under the contact with the employer.so without thinking you can take decision of leaving the org without notice period.

Hello all, your point of view regarding appointment letter is absolutely right and i appreciate but I think prashant has missed one thing....that is that some companies which deals with highly confidential data like IT companies, research org, defense, aeronautical firm, etc have one condition - one clause in their agreement/rules regulations that after reading their NDA [NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT] although an employees refuses to accept job but he has to follow certain confidentiality and rules...! and if i am wrong in my explanation then seniors please correct me...!
