Hello,
I am working as a manager for small company. Recently we have hired a personal as at middle level manager to work with us. It seems that he has obtained his Masters Degree from a legitimate British University. His Award certificate says that he has Masters Degree in particular subject, how ever his memorandum or marks certificate says that he has Post Graduate Certificate. I dont really understand this. When i asked him if his degree is real of fake, the candidate offered to show hi graduation pictures, University Alumni membership cards and letters etc. and they all seem to be genuine. But my question is that, why does his Award certificate says that he has Masters degree and his memorandum says that it is post Graduate certificate.
Is there any way i can verify it directly with his University in UK ? And what kind of action can i take just in case, if i found out that he has faked any of his documents or lied to us on his CV or during the interview. Can i take any action on him if he claimed that he has Masters while he only had PG certificate ? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Sushma.

Dear Sushma,
The employee in question doesn't seem to be at fault. Master in UK is referred as Post Graduation. Hence the notification on the certificate. There is nothing fishy about it . Its only USA who have MBA or else its PGDBA in India as well. Even IIMs write PDGBA on their certificates and not MBA as sold in the market.
Its how they define it. Please connect with Nashbramhall He is a senior educationist in UK. He can guide you accurately.

Dear Shushma ,,
I think that Nabomia is right. You should follow her suggestion . In my opinion PGDBM & MBA are same grade degree so that is not an issue to take any action against him.

Dear Sushma,
If you have any doubt with concerned employee you can have every rights to inquire or check whether the certificates are correct or fake. As per your statement your employee is producing other related document's are genuine. Therefore you have to decide.
