@Sriharisri

First of all appreciate to come again with your concerns...

I will suggest the following for bringing awareness on workers about Safety... Train them is one of the solution for bringing awareness... But how we are conducting plays a vital role... If we conduct a worker training by gather them at site and giving a great speech it won't help much more... Instead of this first you demand management for a training room for organising training to workers... Then if you conduct an organised class room training for workers they will feel that the employer is taking care of us... Yes, surely we have to do something in return... They will try to learn what the faculty is conveying instead of passing time... Surely will reflect the usefulness of the training at site...

After you got a training room, you have to identify the training need of your workers... Where they are lacking... Start with programmes like "Need of organising Safety", "Roles and Responsibilities Towards Safety", etc. Then go for particular subject based trainings...

Then being a Safety Person alone you can't do this task of bringing awareness on workers... Include your line management... Make a compulsory system of conducting Tool Box Talks in each section before starting job... Talk with your higher management and release such a circular that its mandatory to conduct Tool Box Talks... You facilitate your line management by giving various topics for discussion during this TBT...

Conduct spot quizes for workers and ask questions from the earlier training sections... Motivate them... Surely will get results...

Hope it will somehow help you.

Greetings to all.

For improving the safety performance, we should review the entire system from the starting point.

Safety Policy - Is there a safety policy declared by the occupier or the factory manager or the CEO and made available to all the relevent person. Refer the Factories Act, 1948 for this.

If there is no Safety Policy, convince your managment for having one and help your managment to formulate a Policy.

Draw a action plan in line with the Safety policy - keeping in mind the long term and short term factors.

A safety Committee should be formed and it should be seen that it is a functional committee and not just a dummy committee.

All unsafe conditions should be taken care of, and in such a manner that the shop floor people are made to feel that this is being done for their betterment. It will give the impression that the top managment is serious aboput Safety.

Ideas should be invited and if any idea gets implented the person generating the idea should be appreciated publically. A good way would be to post a appreciation letter on the notice board.

Person prone to accidents or unsafe actions, either due to the work conditions or due to their own habbits should be identified and observed. A counselling session should be arranged in a group or individually as the case may be. The person handling the counselling session should be skilled.

Based on the accident reports and near miss reports and their investigations and analysis, some factors having high priority should be identified and training modules should be prepared. Training should be provided after conducting need identification. As correctly mentioned by Mr. Dipil, a nice training hall with pleasent ambience makes a great effect.

Posting of some relevent factors in form of one point lesson at various points, one point in a week can have some impact.

These may be a few steps to begin with.

Best Regards.

Raman.
