Hi ,
I would like to ask,is the employer have the right to ask the employee to show them the new company offer letter to them?
1) Current company wants me to stay but, they are not offering what other company offered to me? Yet they still need me to show the offer letter to them? Do they have the right to do so?
2)May i know who is the final decision maker to revise the employee salary ? Vice president of the division? HR Executive ? Country Manager?

HI
No employer has right to ask the offer letter of new employer. I believe that it is not advisable to show it to them. If they are offering satisfied pay then you can continue with the current employer itself.
Actually the salaries will be fixed by the HR manager. That is the procedure. But in some organisations it varies. More over it depends on the organisation.

Current employer has NO RIGHT to ask the new employer's offer letter. If you are comfort with present employer and intend to stay with them provided that they give salary at par with new emplyr, u may show them. Demand for position hike, u'll get hike n salary.

Hi There,
No employer has the right to ask the employee to show his Offer Letter, that's is not considered as the the good HR Practices.
It's at the discretion of the employee to disclose the name of his new employer.
Your reporting manager would suggest the % of hike to be given to you to your HR Manager, who in turn would implement it.

Hi ,Sunita
Thanks for your reply.
I think your right,it is a discretion to me.........
One more question who will actually decide the last working date of resign staff,do it involve HR ,since my division practice they dont care how many annual leave you have, they will only void your annual leave.

Dear LI
I am having different opinion, the final salary is fixed by the unit head or CEO, the HR manager has a right to put his/her views in connection with salary revision/raise.
Showing the offer letter to the present company is like a suicide. also the present employer has no right or privilege to ask/show the offer letter. If you are not intrested in the present company, please submit your resignation and work till the notice period is over (as per contractual agreement thorugh appointment order) or pay notice pay and say bye to all.

Hello Li,
Firstly, I would like to state that if you have decided to move, do it gracefully. The current employer has no rights to ask for your offer letter. In case you happen to show them and they offer you a competent salary compared to what you have received from the new company, its not the right practice. Does it mean that your value in the company was nil until you got a offer letter from a new company? So I suggest do not get into this mess at all. Infact we still witness this kind of unhealthy practice even today!
Regarding deciding the salary, it rests with the team manager and division head primarily while the role of the HR would be to give them enough options by providing the parity chart.
Good luck for your endeavors.
Thanks
Uma

Dear Li,
I have read all the replies too. I fully agree with the views expressed. I would even go one step further - if the current employer 'asks' for the 'offer letter', you should leave immediately. It is not a good HR orientation at all. Every organisation needs to trust its employees. And a good HR should know the market value of the employees.
Your immediate boss should be vested with authority to fix your date of leaving - but HR would have a lot of say in that. The Division Head will be the one normally deciding if there are special issues like relieving early, notice period pay waiver, leave adjustment etc.
Best wishes for a bright future.

Every activities regardings employee of the company will be handled only by HR department. Obivisouly the last date of your service with the company will be decided by HR in accordance with service agreement.
