Dear All,
I've observed an interesting fact, one of the reputed private sector bank of the region. The employees are required to take permission from their reporting managers on holidays or sundays !!! They have to report to work on sundays and holidays without any extra pay.Though these practices are common among the private industry, this bank went a tad ahead , when one of the business heads issued a official mail to the whole region enforcing the doctrine by letter and spirit. Above all ,the Regional Head APPROVED the decision and it has got implemented in letter and spirit !!!
The question is can a organisation do this ???
Can the employees get justice ??

Both under National and Festival Act and Shop and Establishment Act, this is a major violation.

Dear Bhardwaj, Bring it to the notice of the Commissioner of Labor of the respective State by means of a complaint, if possible with a copy of the mail of the Business Head.

You may contact any trade union locally active and request them to pursue legal remedy in this matter. Taking up the issue in your name or identity may have serious repercussions on the job, so better to avoid it.

Dear Friend
If you are not willing to hog the lime light arrange to send an anonymous letter to the Commissioner of Labour through some body or through the union if you have union in the bank. You Bosses are doing illegal & immoral things and are exploiting the employees.

Dear Colleague,
This is blatant act of violation by the concerned bank management of legal right conferred of having paid weekly off .
Before knocking the doors of Labour Commissioner, It would be better to send polite communication to the top authority pointing to this illegal decision and reverse it forthwith.
If the management does not pay any heed , then surely approach labour authorities.
