Dear Mr. Kaushik,
As you said that for national holiday if our industry is in continuous process then we have to pay three times wages.I faced this issue in a cement industry that comes under continuous process but as per UP Establishment National Holidays Act, 1961 says that if we will take work then we have pay twice the wages for a day or at the option of the employee wages for that day and also a substituted holiday with wages falling within the next calendar month not being a weekly holiday.
I hope that now you will be clear on this issue.
Good day

Dear Mr. Gupta,
Simple concept of national holiday.
one day wages for the national holiday and double the wages for working on such day as overtime which comes to three times . Hope the issue is clear.

Dear Mr. Kaushik,
Thanks for comments but I have discussed this issue before the Dy.Lab. commissioner and the Secretary of the union. Finally we have to pay twice the wages for a day or at the option of the employee wages for that day and also a substituted holiday with wages falling within the next calendar month not being a weekly holiday. This was a decision.
thanks onceagain

HI,
this is a good information!!!
I would like to know is this applicable to call centers as well..
As in call centers i have seen that we have to work on public holidays and we can get a comp off later on, which again depends on availability. If u'll not take a comp off no additional wages are paid....
What shud be done in this case...
please reply..
