All seniors kindly tell me about HR success and what should I do to become a successful HR as I just completed my MBA and working for 4 months only and I have to lead towards IR and LW.

It is nice to hear from a budding professional about his desire to be a successful HR. It all depends up on as to how you define success. Success means many things to many people. Is it climbing up career ladder fast? or winning the people's(employees') trust and support for HR initiatives like building a culture of commitment and gratitude that drives performance to realize organisational goals or is it developing competencies to develop fault free procedures in HR functioning. or is it a combination of all? Delve on the subject for your own conceptual clarity.and set a long term goal but in the mean time set some immediate or short term goals which can serve as stepping stones to achieve your long term goal.There is no secret formula for success.Any how for success in whatever you desire, you need to have basic traits which are :

1) be passionate about HR. It should come straight from the heart. You should enjoy being in HR. You should take to HR as a duck takes to water Then only it is possible to achieve excellence.Unless you excel in what you do, it is difficult to succeed.

2)develop aptitude for HR. It is easy to develop aptitude for those who are passionate about HR . HR Aptitude means developing flair for people related issues.

3)develop right attitude. Right attitude for taking initiative to walk the extra mile to learn new things in HR and developing a solution centric thinking since problems keep coming at you in HR

4)understand what are the key skills required for HR to meet business challenges. For example, finding talent and retaining it is a challenge which the corporates are facing in the competitive service sector. Thus the key skill to address the problem is talent management skill.

5) after finding out the key skills, find out a mentor who can guide in acquiring in these skills. Read material from all possible sources on these skills and discuss with your mentor or a senior leader.

6) keep abreast of new trends in HR either reading, attending seminars,professional clubs or participating in social media discussions.

7) Realize that Rome is not built in a day and learning is a continuous process and success does not happen over night but will definitely happen.
