Grievance Handling -
1. Skip level meetings
2. Complaint / Suggestion boxes in the work areas (Red - To be addressed without delay, Orange - To be addressed in a short period, Green - Compliments)
3. Help line number
4. Compliant register - such that grievances can be diverted to the respective departments
5. Create awareness and freedom that, employees can reach you for any sort of work related issues
Performance Appraisal - You should first decide the tool which one is appropriate to your organization. Thanks!

Hi Raju,

I was Head of HR cum Sr DGM, when I retired from one of L&T's business units. For almost ten years I was handling whole operation single handedly. In case you dont get proper assistance or support from management side to help you tackle the whole lot of issues (like in my case, which was so for ten long years), better organise your things. Your organising your responsibilities should be in a sequence such as assignments which are time bound, deadline oriented, and also the frequency based work. Some responsibilities may recur daily, some weekly and some monthly. If you can properly slot these assignments in a large annual planner you can tackle the assignment smoothly. Believe me, it will work just fine. Also, when you do such work on a daily basis, allocate some extra time in your scheduling to meet unepected emergencies.

For instance, performance appraisal is annual and depending upon the annual cycle, you can take action just one month before the cycle starts. Similarly, in your daily schedule you allocate time for issuing appointment letters, and other staff admin related activities.

You will find, over a period of time, that you have still time left for pursuing other personal work and other commitments.

All the best

Thanks friends for your feedback.
A lot more one can do, if proper scheduling or prioritizing of your activities are carried out. Everybody has only 24 hours in their watch but then much depends upon how you utilise it effectively.
If you can make four quadrants and designate each quadrant as Important, Urgent, Not Important and Not Urgent. If you keep sorting your tasks, assignments and responsibilities, over a period of time, you can master the art of working efficiently and effectively.
Best wishes

Dear Sundaram sir,
thank you very much for useful guidance.
@krupa & Raju- what is size of organisation?bcz as per rule company whichever have min 20 employees has to get register for EPF & ESIC and have to contribute of both compliances.
If your company fullfill this you should suggest your employer to go for it,if you violating these statuary compliances ,in that case company has to pay for it.

Hi everybody !

Thanks for your posting which concern your knowledge relating to HR activities. A while ago, I did a posting relating to a course which I am conducting viz. Advanced Diploma in HR Management (ADHRM).

Anyway, I am repeating it here. This is basically for those who are in HR or MSW roles but do not have any knowledge or information about HR activities. This course compresses of six modules. This is conducted online and every week one module will be posted to your email ID. After studying you will have to answer the questions at the end of the modules.

If your answers are satisfactory, next module will be mailed to you. At the end of six modules, we will send you a certificate to the effect that you have successfully completed the course. Since I have been receiving this kind of query, I decided to start this facility for those who cannot spare five full days for the same course to be conducted in one location. The same programme can also be conducted in five full working days - morning to evening in any location. But for that i require at least 15 participants in any city.

Am attaching herewith the course content for online course. If interested, please send an email to me.

Best wishes
