Dear Shivadas.N,
As you have told that your unit is covered under Shops Act, therefoe, it is hereby advised that you may go through your State Shops & Commercial Establishment Act where your unit is working in regard to provisions on non applicability of opening & closing timings & close day for your nature of work. If this is already allowed then there is no need to apply to Chief Inspector of shops for exemption otherwise apply to CIS of the State.

Dear Sahil,
Yes ,ofcourse you have to inform to chief inspector of Shops & establishment and provide the reason of running in shift.
The inspector verify the genuine reason, incase inspector found really requirement of three shift then they would approve it.
Incase of women employee, please keep in mind that you have arrange necessary arrangement of her safety.
There are several MNC's are working in shift and a chief inspector visit in other shift to see whether working conditions are okay to work or not,but your should have sufficient arrangement to run a factory in a shift.
Please keep in mind that working hours shoud not be more than 8 hours/shift including lunch/tea/dinner breaks.
Best Regards
