Hello Ronnie,
A 'Show Cause Notice' is issued to an individual/entity to--literally--show cause(s) WHY he/she/they SHOULDN'T BE CHARGED with an offence/action that's against law/rules. The next step would depend if the cause(s) given are satisfactory or not.
A Chargesheet is filed/given once a prima facie case is made, i.e., AFTER the Show Cause Notice stage PLUS some preliminary investigation--meaning that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that he/she/they MAY be guilty of the offence/crime/action [literally the 'chargesheet' is a sheet of paper containing the list of 'charges' against him/her/them]. Whether he/she/they will finally be confirmed guilty or not depends on the Trial & Arguments--in a court or tribunal or any similar/such Forum/Platform.
Hope that clears your query.
BTW, what did you reply to the interview question [don't worry even if it's way-off-the-mark.....one doesn't need to know everything]?

Hello Ronnie,
Pl see the Link below for details about 'Prima facie'.
prima facie - definition of prima facie by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.
Suggest learn to look around on your own FIRST. Ask only if you can't figure-out or don't understand.
One can always learn/know MORE when we ask AFTER putting our own efforts.
Reg Difference Between Induction and Orientation, you say you know it--pl mention what you know & we can take it from there.

Wow..feels great after interacting with you sir.
I ll surely keep this in mind for future..ll try to find every thing on my own first..then ll ask for help
Induction is a process where a newly joined employee is given a brief details about the company where it was started from, how it came into existence, about people who are responsible about company's success(Board Of Directors).
Then they ll tell about the various policies that the particular company follows.
Like Leave Policies, Insurance Policies and other HR related Policies etc
Basically its done in order to make the employee feel Comfortable Since He/She is new to the place.
Whereas Orientation is a process where an employee is made familiar to various departments where he ll b co-ordinating in order to complete his task and should b able to work in a team. Also grooming of the employee is done in this process.
I only know this much about orientation process..and i think i need to know more about this
Thanks a lot Sir

Dear Professional
I think,
Show is a chance given to the employee, why did he concern indispline, was it done intentionally or it was just mistake. he is being asked to respond in a stipulated time to show case, whereas
charge sheet is the first step decision of management on the basis of fact available and individuals response against show case.

Dear AS,
Show cause notice can be issued on either of the two occasions, firstly, when the management is primafacie convinced of the violence of the working conditions laid down by the management applicable for workmen and that the management does not want to drag the matter for long. In such a situation the management apprises the workman of the act of misconduct he has committed and the punishment it intends to impose if the person concerned does not have an explanation satisfying the management, an(d the management awards the punishment to the workman if the explanation is not found satisfactory. Normally, a show cause is issued in this situation when the management intends to imposea minor penalty on the workman.
In the second situation the disciplinary action has been completed and the competent authority has decided to impose a particular punishment, the workman, with a view to extend further principles of natural justice to the case, it provide one more opportunity to workman to bring out any further tangible explanation (before awarding the punishment) in support of his innocence in the matter, which he could not do earlier due to any reaason.
A chargesheet is issued where charges as well as acts of misconduct against the workman are clearly spelt out . The management, if not satisfied with the explanation of the concerned,, may proceed further with the domestic enquiry on the merits of charges found established or otherwise as the case may be.
