Dear Isher DN,
Prohibiting an employee from working for a competitor during their employment is strictly prohibited, and you can insert a clause to this effect in the appointment letter. However, once the employee resigns, he/she is free to choose their employer. The employer cannot inhibit the future growth opportunities of the separated employee.
