I have 4+ years of experience and got an offer from TCS. During the background verification process, my second company provided negative feedback while my previous company gave positive feedback. TCS requested an explanation, and I provided it via email, explaining the reason for the issue. With my joining date at TCS approaching, I am concerned if they will revoke my offer now.

Dear User,

Please reach out to your Recruiter or HR and ask them directly about the status of your offer. HR teams typically consider it a waste of time to pursue candidate inquiries like this, so it is better to be proactive and contact them via phone call. They may not respond to your emails due to prevalent unprofessional practices.

As your Date of Joining (DOJ) is approaching, clarity is essential for both parties. Ensure they are clear on whether they intend to move forward with your case.

My advice is to seek a prompt response. If they decide not to proceed with your offer, consider retracting your resignation from your current employer, citing urgent personal reasons. This way, you will have job security.

I hope this information proves helpful. Thank you, and best of luck.

Dear Komal,

Short answer: Usually, no. Companies do not generally terminate employment based on one negative report. Any good company will take into account a comprehensive review of your overall report, which includes verification of employment, criminal record, identification, salary, etc., and then make an overall assessment.

The organization did the right thing by asking you for an explanation, and usually, if there isn't any integrity-related issue, they could give the benefit of the doubt.

Our background: We conduct background verifications for various organizations.

Generally, background verification is done to confirm our selection of the candidate as the right choice. It is true that some may provide negative feedback. I would suggest reaching out to HR and obtaining a valid reference from the company where you received a negative review.

Dear Komal-Patil,

You need to talk to the HR person (i.e., the company offering you the job) over the phone or seek an appointment to present your case without casting aspersions on your current employer. As long as you are not involved in any integrity issues or criminal activities, you will have fair chances of getting the offer of employment in your favor. The prospective employer seems to be highly professional in dealing with such matters, as evident from the fact that they have given you an opportunity to explain against the negative remarks of the current employer rather than closing the offer mechanically relying on the negative feedback.

All the best,
