Dear All,

Please help me to calculate leaves in my company as I am supposed to maintain the leave records. Actually, ours is a start-up company, and there is no HR Department. Therefore, I am supposed to maintain all types of records, including the attendance register.

Our company's leave pattern is as follows:
1) Sick leave - 5 days
2) Casual leave - 5 days
3) Earned Leave (EL) - 1.25 days per month

Our company started last year, and I want to know how many leaves each employee (there are only 4 employees) must have already collected, how many leaves must have lapsed last year, and how many must have been carried forward.

Kindly help me with the input.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Archu,

The number of leaves per year is 15. Please check the leave calendar to confirm if it runs from January to December or from April to March. Calculate the leaves based on the calendar. Generally, all unavailed earned leaves (ELs) are carried forward.

Casual Leave (CL) and Sick Leave (SL) that are not availed will lapse after a change in the calendar or financial year, depending on what is applicable in your company.

Let me know if you need further clarification.

Hi Archu,

In most organizations, unavailed CLs will be encashed, and sick leaves and annual leaves will be carried forward. Annual leaves can be accumulated up to 180 days, and sick leaves up to 100 days. Leaves exceeding 180 days will be encashed automatically, and leaves exceeding 100 days will be lapsed. Employees can encash Earn Leaves after maintaining the minimum required leaves in their credit.

Thank you.

Dear Member,

As per the statement below, does an employee get the benefit of a weekly off or not? The employee was on leave from 8 to 13, and 7 & 14 are his weekly offs. I want to know if both weekly offs are given or only one.

Policy Statement:
1. Either a prefix or suffix with weekly offs is admissible. However, both a prefix and suffix with weekly offs will not be admissible.
2. Earned Leaves can be prefixed or suffixed to weekly off and/or paid holidays. Intermittent paid holidays will not be counted as leave. Intermittent weekly offs will be counted as leave.

Please do the needful.

Regards,
Deepak
