Hi,

When searching for a job, upon receiving an offer letter, please resign from your current company. This is due to official politics, so if you are unable to handle it, please consider moving on as there are plenty of opportunities available. Why not work in a different place?

Thank you very much! I will wait for some time and try to discuss with my director once he is back. Please help me know what reports I should have as an HR manager. Currently, I am working on the absenteeism report, total headcount report, new joiner reports, total salary, overtime, bonus report section-wise, leave report, and advance report. What else should I include? What should be my focused areas? Please share some tips to manage it better. I appreciate your messages; I am feeling much better than yesterday. Thank you very much.

Hi,

It is better to do your duty without expecting support and help from others. Do it in your own way and style. One day, you will be accepted by all, and it is a good experience (I mean to handle such difficult situations) which you may not get in other firms. So, be positive and continue with your ideas as they will help you to grow at all levels. All the best.

You already told whatever reports you are making. Now for more you can ask it to your director or the person whom you are reporting.

Dear Pooja,

I believe you are like the Lamb of God... it's good, trust me. But please let them know that a Lamb of God can also give them a strong bite. Please ignore such detractors as if they don't exist. Your director is supportive, and that is more than enough. Do take your go-ahead from him only. Do not leave this job unless and until you lose your total confidence. Do your work with full efforts and be strong enough. Just like in cases of physical harassment, give them a lesson by forwarding an official complaint letter to your super dean and then to your local PS, and confront them firmly. I know that you can do it, so take a deep breath, boost your energy, and just go ahead. May God bless you, DEAR.

Hi Pooja,

I would like to suggest some points for you to consider while working in an engineering company:

1) The work culture between software and engineering companies is different. If you have recently joined, take some time to observe the work nature of your organization. You cannot change an organization in just a day or a month; give it some time to adapt.

2) When following your strategies, do not hesitate to seek guidance from your seniors or colleagues. It is important to gain the confidence of your seniors, whether they are from your department or another, when starting a new activity to avoid any negative perceptions.

3) While you may be focusing on HR aspects, remember that it is an engineering company where production takes priority.

4) Stand firm in your beliefs but also show respect to others. Physical harassment is a serious issue, and violence is never a permanent solution. Strive to create a culture of mutual respect among colleagues.

I hope these suggestions are helpful for your professional journey in the engineering field.

Dear Pooja,

I read what you have been undergoing. The best thing that I can suggest to you is to try doing a one-on-one with each employee when you find time. Ask them questions about positive and negative aspects and the changes that they are willing or not willing to make. Make a list and arrange to discuss the same with your director. I'm sure this way you will better understand your planning. However, being a woman, I understand the challenges that may arise in the good deed you are planning. Remember, there may be many who say you are wrong, but even one supporter can help you achieve your goals. The more you stress and label it as a problem, the longer it will persist. Call it "Women power," empower your thoughts. The position you hold as an HR Manager is critical and of utmost value. By now, I'm sure you must have understood my message. Take on the challenge and prove yourself!

If you have any questions, feel free to write. Good Luck!

Cheers...

I have been in IT, Manufacturing, and Retail.

I would suggest that you implement policies that not only strengthen your ability to take disciplinary action but also ensure that they are followed by everyone. Restrict your conversations with your subordinates and other managers. Reduce the workload of your subordinates and bring in new employees - this will create a sense of job insecurity which can help in ensuring compliance with your directives. If this approach does not yield the desired results, your new subordinate will be prepared to take over and replace the existing one with ease.

Ensure compliance with the Factory Act and ID Act as they are necessary for every aspect of your operations.

Hello Pooja,

First of all, let us know: Are you being paid higher (salary) than others when comparing your qualifications, experience, etc., with those in a similar position in other departments?

How was the previous HR Manager performing, or is this a new position that you have taken up?

Are there any gender biases present?

Are your co-workers senior or elderly while you are younger in age?

How can you incorporate fun activities twice a week? When will you have time, and what type of employees will be involved in these activities?

Do not lose heart; things will settle down over time, and you can relax after 3 to 6 months.

Best of Luck,
