Managing Contract and Inter-State Migrant Workers
Have you ever noticed the latest flyover or high-rise building in the city? Have you ever wondered about the workers who are building them? You may hear them conversing in a language that is unfamiliar to you. Perhaps you\'ve noticed that the staff at your local South Indian restaurant now speaks better Hindi than Tamil, or that you\'ve had to speak broken Hindi because your security personnel don\'t understand the local language.
This is the story of a thriving India! It\'s a tale of rapid economic growth, of new wealth creators, and of a migrating workforce!
Join us for a one-day workshop to understand the issues faced by migrant workers, the constitutional and legal provisions in their favor, and how to handle these issues in the workplace.
The workshop will be facilitated by Mr. V Rajaram, a retired official from the Department of Labour, Government of Tamil Nadu. Mr. Rajaram has 36 years of experience and holds post-graduate diplomas in labour and administrative laws, personnel management, and industrial relations and labour welfare.
The workshop will be held from 09:30 am to 04:30 pm on Sunday, the 09th of September 2012. The venue will open for registration from 9:00 am.
The workshop will take place at the Indian Society for Training & Development, No 37 Chateau D Ampa No 11 4th Floor, Nelson Manickam Road, Aminjikarai, Chennai - 600029.
Participation fee is Rs. 900 for members and Rs.1100 for non-members. This includes lunch, refreshments, and workshop materials.
