In my present company, I have been working for 1 year. Every month, they are deducting my PF amount, but I have not yet received my PF account number. I am now going to be relieved from my services this week. Seniors, please suggest to me what the procedure is to obtain my PF details.

Hi Sandhya Just find out the employer Code and to that add ur code(employee Code) That is ur PF account No. Otherwise the same is mentioned in Salary slip Or u can find it out from PF office

Thank you for the information. The issue here is that not all people have submitted the PF account opening documents to the PF office. When we inquire about it, they respond that currently, we do not have anyone handling accounting, so we are unable to assist you.

What should I do in this situation?

Dear Sandhya,

Most companies will allot the PF number to newly joining employees even at the time of salary preparation itself. Lately, they may assign the same until they furnish the PF returns Form 5 and 12A. Therefore, you can inquire with the HR/Personnel department for the PF number. You can consistently follow up with them, and you will definitely receive it. Okay?

Hi Sandhya,

It's not mandatory to have the Employee PF code same as that of his/her employee code. Employee code could be anything. PF Code can only be provided by your employer. There is no way you can guess your number. Generally, the number is printed on your payslip. You should ask your HR official for the same and in case of no reply, forward a written request for the same and get its acknowledgment. Do you have any proof that PF is being deducted from your salary?

Dear Sandhya,

Since you have been working for the past year, they should have filed returns for your PF. As far as the Accounts department is concerned, I don't think the company can function without it. They might be outsourcing the Accounts department.

You can directly contact the PF office to inquire about the details.

Hi Madhumita,

As you said, it's true that no company can run without an accounting department. However, here the HR admin takes care of all financial aspects of the company, and she has clearly stated that the PF forms haven't been submitted to the PF office.

Hi all,

What if the company she is working with has not opened their PF account? Then I think she has to register a complaint with the PF office. If your company has more than 20 employees, then you will receive your PF. Not soon, but surely you will receive it. Just make a complaint at the PF office.

Then don't worry, you will get your PF. Just go to the PF office, and you can get your PF account number or company's account number from them (Under Right to Information Act). Your company has to pay your PF no matter what. So don't worry :)

Hi all,

I suggest that you approach the PF office directly with a letter addressed to the PF Commissioner along with your PF withdrawal form. Also, ensure to copy the director of the company (CC to the director). I believe that prompt action will be taken in response.

Hi Sandhya,

It's simple. Just take all your salary slips (xerox) and attach them with a request letter to the commissioners of PF to receive acknowledgment. Your PF money will not go anywhere, even if your company deducted it from your salary and did not deposit it with the PF office.

I faced the same problem while working for a small restaurant. I went to the Commissioner's office and submitted a letter. The smart move I made was to give it to the Deputy Commissioner and CC it to the Commissioner and vigilance.

As you mentioned, you are in the HR department. Please check the PF returns file for the last year to obtain your PF number. If you were not part of the organization at that time, remember that every organization must submit the returns during the month of April. As an HR professional, it is your responsibility to initiate the process of obtaining PF numbers for all workers and staff.

Instead of complaining to the PF office, consider taking proactive steps as you are the HR personnel. Be wise, take the initiative, and shoulder the responsibility of obtaining the PF numbers.

Hi Sandhya,

Since your employment is only for one year and till now, RPFC has not issued any contribution slips, i.e., Form No. 23, to any covered establishment for the year 2006-2007 as the interest rate has not been decided yet. However, you may ask your existing employer to provide your PF Account No. If you are unable to obtain it this way, then after 60 days of your relieving, you can submit your provident fund accumulations withdrawal application to the concerned PF office. This application should have certification of your signature from your bank and should also include a covering letter stating all the facts.

RPFC will forward the same application to your industry where they will be required to certify all particulars of your employment including your PF No.

Hi Sandhya,

It's really a big issue because processing is underway, but there is no PF account number for employers. Even though PF deductions are being made, there is no PF account for employees. This situation appears to be serious, and due to some management delays, the only viable solution seems to be converting personal rights into group rights. For example, the money deducted from Sandhya's salary constitutes her contribution, and management is always responsible for providing details of whether the amount has been deposited or not. They cannot simply claim to be taking action without accountability.

On a personal level, Sandhya can approach the HR or top management separately to get to the root of the issue. Regardless, the company is obligated to provide the necessary details sooner or later. It's important to retain the signed payslips where PF deductions are reflected.

Dear Sandhya,

If the company has more than 20 employees, it has to have a PF A/C Code. Since you have been working for the last 1 year in the company, they must have submitted your FORM 5 in the PF Office. As you mentioned that they are deducting the PF amount from your salary, then they must be showing this in the salary slip, and your PF A/C number will be mentioned in your salary slip. If you have asked the HR Manager about this and they still hesitate in giving you your PF A/C number, then they are practicing bad labor practices under labor law. You can file a case in the labor court. Alternatively, you can go to the PF Office if you know your PF A/C number and get the details of your PF deduction.

Hi Sandhya, how are you? I am Sudhir. That is not a big issue if you have not provided your PF account number. You can ask your personnel department about this or fill out the form for PF after the date of your resignation. If they are not assisting you, you can approach your regional PF office in your district area. They will definitely help you.

When the company deducts the PF, where does it go? Who keeps the PF? Does it remain with the HR department or the accounts department? Could somebody tell me the procedure for PF and ESIC in detail? I'm new to this.
