Hi,

My previous role was an intern for an MNC for 6 months. However, I resigned in the 4th month due to the manager's bad behavior. Even though my last working day was the 8th of the month, the full salary was credited at the end of the month. I didn't notice this until the HR called me after 4 days and informed me that excess salary was credited as the HR department had not informed the finance department. They asked me to refund the excess, and I agreed to do so. However, due to my negligence, I didn't check that the NEFT transaction had failed, and the HR didn't call me for a long time. Now, the HR is threatening to blacklist me in the national HR portal, which could potentially damage my career.

To my understanding, there are no deductions for me such as tax or PF, nor was an NSR registration requested by the employer. I want to know if there is any unified portal for tracking a person's candidature. If so, will they report it, and how severe could the impact be on my future?

The second paragraph is immaterial. First pay back the amount wrongly credited by the employer. Why should you hold it? Pay it right now.
