Employees are obliged to, and therefore must be held responsible/liable for, the proper upkeep of and taking proper care of the employer's/company's property in general, and those property/items/tools, etc., in particular, which are issued to them as individual employees to carry out their functions/discharge their allotted duties/tasks.

Employment, in itself, is a contract under the respective laws with sufficiently precisely defined terms and conditions of employment. Every employer needs to include a necessary clause regarding the upkeep of the company's property issued to the employees for safe custody. The employment offer letter or appointment letter is the best mode of communication, along with a circular conspicuously put up/posted/pasted on the notice board.
