Dear Members,

I am working as an HR professional in a contractor firm with a staff of 40 employees in Delhi NCT. The firm deals with contracts published on e-procurement sites (like defense).

I want to know how to implement HR rules and policies for this firm and which labor compliances are applicable to it.

Thank you.

Dear ANONYMOUS Friend,

You are from HR, and your question, as I understood it, is very basic for HR. No labor law depends on the type of company but on the number of employees you engage. Some labor laws are applicable to specific industries only. The basic labor law applicable to your contracting firm is the S&E Act. The Contract Labor Act is applicable to your workplaces not belonging to you but belonging to the person or company who gives you the work, subject to having the required number of employees at a particular workplace.

Other than this, you have to comply with various labor laws relating to wages, social securities, EHS, working conditions, and industrial relations. You are requested to study all these Acts, and if you have any specific queries, you are welcome to ask them on this forum. Every HR professional must know at least the basic features of labor laws. Why at least the basic features? HR must be SUPREMO.
