I completed the interview last month. HR said you're shortlisted and to bring all marks cards and 3 months' payslips. Now, one month has passed, and when I call HR, he tells me to wait. Sometimes he says it's on hold, other times he mentions there's no position available, so I should wait. What can I do? Please help me.

Since you have mentioned that HR collected copies of mark sheets and payslips, I assume you are working elsewhere. I suggest you wait for some time. Since it's a bank job, they will certainly conduct a background check before hiring. They need to verify your address, mark sheets, past experience, and all this consumes a lot of time. Even if we assume that all procedures are completed and the background verification is cleared, it can still take some more time.
Let's say they have selected 100 people to be deployed in 10 new branches, and if the approval for these branches gets delayed, then naturally positions will be on hold. These are just assumptions; there could be some other reasons too. My suggestion is to wait. Don't quit your present job; keep trying for other jobs as well since this HDFC opportunity is getting delayed.

As you mentioned above, I can suggest you wait for some time as it is not mandatory for the company to provide an offer once shortlisted. Understanding that being in the banking sector, there might be a CIBIL check as well. If the score is low, they may choose not to hire. Hopefully, you will find a good opportunity.

I suggest you to wait and work in your current company and don't put down your papers. If not working currently, then go look for another job because someday you may get a call that someone has already shortlisted. I have had this type of issue three times.

Hey!
I have the same issue. I have been selected by HDFC Bank as a Personal Banker. I received my provisional offer letter and salary breakup, which I have accepted. However, I am yet to receive my appointment letter. It's taking too long. Do you have any idea how much time it's going to take and what I am supposed to do in this situation?
