Sir, contributions made under the provisions of the ESI Act, 1948, and rules/regulations framed thereunder are not refundable after retirement or resignation. This is due to the fact that the scheme under ESIS is considered a social security scheme, whereby benefits in terms of kind and cash are regularly provided to the needy and eligible insured persons in times of sickness, maternity, disablement, and death, among others.
