these things are not a big issue but you put forth your grievance to your immediate boss, if he fails you can look for alternate employment where your designation and responsibilities go hand in hand.

You have not started what the designation is, what the responsibilities are, why it matters and what type of organisation you are working for. Without basic information how do you expect members to give an action :)

Hi Rekha,
Have a clear talk - polite but firm - that you want the designation and responsibility to match with the concerned authorities, if this is a matter of concern to you.
Be prepared about what to expect in the discussion and stay calm. Find out before hand, what has caused this gap and delay and then asses what to talk.

Dear Member
Each company has right to have its own designations for any role & responsibility .There is no law which defines responsibilities associated with a designation . There is no point in taking up this as an issue . But if the same organisation gives higher designation for the responsibilities handled by you , then you can raise the issue during annual performance reviews if your performance also seen as outstanding .
