Dear HRs,

I would like to know if, as a contractor, I am required to submit the Muster Roll to our client/Principal Employer for only 2 workers. Kindly note that we have already submitted the salary register, PF & ESI breakup, challans, and salary slips.

To the best of my knowledge, a contractor is required to submit the Muster Roll when employing 100 workers or more. Could you please clarify this for me?

Contract Labour Regulation and Abolition Act becomes applicable when you employ a minimum of 20 contract laborers in any working day. However, you have to maintain muster roll, wage slips, ID card, Register of wages, etc. The principal employer may be required to show all these when the inspector visits for inspection.

PE may need to verify entries viz. attendance, wage rates, etc. shown. How otherwise he will be able to verify your wage bill? Please stay updated if you want to grow. Shrikant Prabhudesai
