There is no fixed number, as such. The more policies there are, the clearer the communication flow between HR and employees will be. This will make communication easy, objective, and tangible. To start, you may consider implementing the following basic policies:

1. Attendance Policy
2. Leave Policy
3. Code of conduct
4. Employee Handbook
5. Policy against sexual harassment
6. Performance Assessment procedure
7. Policy on using company's assets
8. Policy on tardiness, etc.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I have implemented the list mentioned below, but I would like to know the format and policy for the performance assessment procedure and code of conduct.

In my company, if a resource is late 5 times per month, a percentage of their salary will be deducted. Could you help me in drafting an email or document for the same?

I would also like to add one more request: How to draft a formal letter for an employee who is irregular to the office and has not informed about their leave. Consequently, we have decided to issue a notice and remove them from their current role. The letter should mention the lack of communication regarding leave and irregular attendance. It should also state that the company may consider rehiring the individual in the future without the need for a formal interview.

Please provide a formal letter based on the above content.

Sample Circular mail for Late Comers to maintain office timings -

Dear All,

This is to bring into notice that a lot of irregularities and indiscipline in attendance & late comings have been recorded in recent days

Punctuality in attendance & office reporting time is expected of the employees in any organization. Being a business oriented company, it has lead to tremendous inconvenience to the organization and its growth.

Henceforth, w.e.f …..date…if the management notices any such kind of irregularity repeated in the work discipline that is against the interest of the company, a necessary disciplinary measure like deduction from their salary …on five late comings would be taken.

It is hence expected of all employees to impose punctuality in attendance & their office reporting time.

After circulating it, as an HR be prepared to handle effectively & logically the multiple questions/queries raised by employees that if an amount is deducted for late coming, overtime should as well be given for staying late.
