Hi, I joined as an HR in a startup IT company. Basically, I'm from an MSc computer science background with prior experience in recruitment. I'm very new to this HR field. Can anyone guide me on how to start my career in the best way and what I have to do?

Hi,

What is the manpower employed in the company? How old is it?

First, assess from your employer your role clearly and their expectations. Then plan accordingly roadmap. Unless it is clear, you may not satisfy your employer on assignments, whatever comes in your way. It may be difficult to resolve all issues you come across during service because of a lack of enough expertise in all fields of HR. It may be difficult to support from outside in every situation you face. You need to use and understand general sense to find solutions to issues.

Hi, I want to know what the HR activities are in a start-up company. What are the value-added things I can do for my company?

Currently, I am tracking attendance, organizing events, managing the joining process, handling recruitment, maintaining employee records, and resolving some employee issues. However, I want to do more. Please guide me on this.

Hi,

You need to understand the practices followed in the companies around your company and create policies in respect of time and attendance discipline in the work area.

Regarding creating records or data of employees, try to establish records from CV to offer, and any correspondence in relation to development in the career. This will help to track the growth of employees.

Cover all employees with statutory obligations, organize entertainment programs and welfare activities, festivities, sports, and games. For the same, seek a budget and approval for spending from management.

Keeping employees in a good mood to contribute to good results is a major role of HR.

At present, you need not think more. You may introduce procedures as and when required. All the best.
