Hi,
I am also handling Induction in my organization.
here, we have a formal Induction of 4 days for all our laterla recruits.
1st half of day I is spent in documents verification, filling up and collection of documents.
from the 2nd half onwards, we begin the sessions with a welcome presentation on the organization and distribution of kit.
on the other days, all the depts in the organization give presentations on the activities of their depts.
on the final day, we administer a feedback form and conclude the induction.
Thanks,
Ligy Jose

Induction Program has not been accorded its due importance in most organizations.

It happens to be one of the most powerful tools available to organizations but they do not know how to use it to their advantage.

Primarily it is this lack of awareness and then paucity of time that relegates an Induction Program to a mundane status.

Induction Program should be designed with complete focus on two things:

1) To welcome the new joinee and acclimatize him with the organization ethos and culture, rules & regulations.

2) To give him so much information that the inductee starts delivering from day one and does not have to disturb the boss again and again on avoidable issues. (Now, there are hang ups to this also in many organizations - what to tell and what to withhold, - but there is a way forward to this also)

To design an Induction Program is one thing. But to inculcate its importance in the minds of all those who are a part of induction process is where HR normally lacks. For each job position, it should be very clear as to what information will make him effective from day one. And all people responsible for this should understand its importance even if it requires Training the various HODs in this respect.

A proper induction program adds value to better retention and good employee performance. In 21st. century, its importance is PHENOMENAL.
