Dear All,
I would like to know if there is any rule regarding notice period. Does any law say that the notice period for the company and the employee must be the same?
Can the company require the employee to give three months notice period, yet remove an employee with just one month notice period or pay?
Look forward to your answers.
Thanks,
Gaurang

White Eagle: Notice Period

Dear White Eagle,
Thanks for the links. However, these do not answer my question. My question is whether the law allows the company to demand a longer notice period from the employee while serving a lesser notice to the employee.
So if the employee wishes to resign, s/he must serve 3 months notice, but if the company wishes to remove the employee, it can do so with just one month notice. Is this justified and acceptable under the law?
Thanks,
Gaurang
