Dear All,

I have decided to pursue postgraduation in HR. I am a diploma holder in HR (DHRM) from Welingkar Institute of Management. The following options are in front of me:

1. PGDBA from Welingkar (Welingkar does not provide MBA in distance learning)
2. PGDBA from Symbiosis (Symbiosis does not provide MBA in distance learning)
3. MBA from ICFAI University

I am a bit confused. Please help me in choosing the right course. Please reply.

Dear Senior,

I am working as an HR Manager and have approximately 9 years of experience but do not possess any professional qualification in HR. Now, I am interested in pursuing one. Could you please advise me on which course would be better for me: a 2-year MBA degree course from Amity or a diploma course from Symbiosis, either through distance learning or any other course?

Thanks & Regards,
Manoj

Dear Kiran,

Why don't you consider another option of pursuing an MBA from IGNOU? This happens to be one of the most preferred MBA programs in Distance mode in India. There is no question of credibility as it is provided by a government-aided university, approved and recognized by UGC.

No, Symbiosis is a reputed institution. It's worth doing HR from there, even if it's through distance learning. There are no issues. Carry on; it will help you in the future.

Rajib ji,

Whenever I receive a call from a recruiter, he also asks for a regular MBA in HR. When I tell them that I am pursuing PGDBA in HR through distance learning from Symbiosis, they say, "We don't consider candidates who are doing distance learning courses." That's why I asked here.

Dear Neelanjana,

It purely depends on the policy of the company to hire a regular or distance MBA holder. Certain ITES & Engineering companies have norms pertaining to the employment of distance mode MBA holders due to the nature of work.

Distance mode MBA is preferred by people who are currently employed, who can't afford to dedicate their complete time for pursuing the course, and for those who wish to advance in their career by enhancing the benefits of these courses.
