Dear Dabral,
Greetings!
The wage ceiling for coverage under the ESI Act has been enhanced from Rs. 7500/- to Rs. 10,000/- per month w.e.f. 1.10.2006. Accordingly all employees whose salary excluding remuneration for over time work, exceeds Rs. 7500/- but does not exceed Rs. 10,000/- per month would become coverable under the ESI Act, w.e.f. 1.10.2006.
Employer can go for MEDICLAIM Policy instead of ESI. But employees must be less than or equal to 20 in the organization.

Dear Frnd.
Dont mixup the ESIC with Mediclaim.
ESIC is a statuary compilation on employer(With 20 or More Employee Numbers and in side the corporation area) to cover all employees receiving Gross salary (Be Sure Gross Salary)up to 10 K PM.
As for Mediclaim is concern its all togather employers probogative to decide to give this advantage or not.It may be given to those employees also who are under coverage of ESIC and may not be.Being a employer responsibility majority of organization do give coverage of mediclaim to the employees drawing salary 10K & above.

Dear Dabral & Sandeep,
Greetings!
To my knowledge, If employer doesnt have the strenght of 20 or more employees they can go for MEDICLAIM POLICY , GROUP INSURANCE through Workmens Compensation Managenment act.
If it is wrong, please clear.
