Dear All,
I have joined the new org. 3 months ago as HR Manager. I want to make changes in existing salary system. The matter is- presently they are giving various grades based on qualification & experience etc. But it is not followed properly. I want to make it simple & trasperant.To make changes in existing system is very difficult & complecated. So plz suggest me new process. Or Guide to solve the existing.

Dear Sanika,
First thing is that if employees are on role then you can't make any changes in his/her salary but if you can left employees one by one from his/her service and rejoin same, then you can make changes accordingly.
and another if employee are not on role then you can make changes which you wants.

First you must make your plan on paper how you want to Change the salary structure that involves basic, DA, HRA, Conveyance , City Allowance, education allowances, Remote allowances, Production Bonus, Bonus , Gratuity, medical , LTA etc. there are various allowances according to Companies need, than you should discuss this plan with your management and try to convince them :-
1. For smooth salary structure first make the designation level,
2. Than decide the Grade level, according to qualification, Work experience after discussion with Management
3. Than decide the %( percentage ) of CTC for Basic, HRA and other allowances
and involving your past experience you can make the structure.

For employees on role it s not advisable to make changes. Even the employees may feel bad on HR system. Make sure they are not affected in the changes that you are planning.

Just a quick one. Most of the members observed that change in pay struture for an existing employee is not suggested as it may translated into disput.
I am not ready to buy this,please. If the ctc is assured, and communicated to concerned employees re the objective and benefit of the modification, then surely,employees with rational mindset would welcome the changes.
Its all depends upon how efficiently the project is handled.

Hello Sanika,
First take into consideration that you can change the grades or designations suitably after taking into confidence mangement and employees .but while making any changes in the existing salary
system be carefull.As you can not make any changes in the basic+VDA
whereas some changes can be had in allowances like special allowance
etc.
