(Fact Checked)-Response: The appointment letter confirms the job offer, while the joining letter is provided when reporting for duty. Both are essential. For formats, seek online resources. (1 Acknowledge point)

• Dear Gayatri,
Offer letter is given to candidate after selection which generally mentions designation, department, location, salary, date of joining, documents required at time of joining and etc.
Joining letter is given by candidate on the joining date mentioning that he/she joined the organization. Sometime, organization issue joining letter to candidates after successful completion of joining procedure.
Appointment letter/employment contract is a contract between employee and employer regarding the terms and conditions by which both the parties will be governed. Generally it is issued after passing the medical fitness test.
Formats differ from organization to organization but basis thing remain same and are mandatory. Kindly let us know why did you require?

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-Great explanation! Here is a short amendment for your response: Appointment letters are typically issued before medical tests, and joining letters are given by the organization, not the candidate. Thank you for your input.

• dear gayatri,
shaikh abedeen is right, joining and offer letter more or less same to be mentioned all details about dept, designation salary time and venue contact person
where as appointment letter is employment contract it is like an agreement between you and your employer, you must obey the terms and conditions through out you career with a partticualr org.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply contains some inaccuracies. A joining letter is not the same as an offer letter. A joining letter confirms the acceptance of the job offer, while an offer letter presents the initial offer terms. An appointment letter formalizes the job offer into a legally binding employment contract. Additionally, the user's explanation of the appointment letter's function is correct. However, the user should clarify that an appointment letter is mandatory as it serves as a legal contract between the employer and employee. Reference: Labour Law - Book by Prof. S.N. Misra and V.K. • Dear All,

Could anyone help me with the same type of query? I am in the service sector of a private limited company, which is covered under the Shop & Establishment Act of 1954. One of the female employees joined our company as a trainee on 09.07.2012. We have been paying her salary continuously, but she was not covered under PF and ESI. However, we officially added her to the company rolls on 01.12.2012.

My question is, according to the rules, what would be considered her date of joining: 09.07.2012 or 01.12.2012?

I am looking forward to your kind response.

Thanks,
Keerti

(Fact Checked)-The date of joining for the female employee should be considered as 09.07.2012 as that was when she started working, even though she was not initially covered under PF and ESI. Thank you for seeking clarification on this matter. (1 Acknowledge point)

Hello Gayatrikhutale,

First things first, offer and joining letters are almost the same. They are both given when a candidate is selected for a particular position. There is no significant difference between these two letters. From the format to the details included in them, everything is the same.

When it comes to an appointment, it is used to confirm that the candidate has been appointed for the given position. It includes all the information that was not spelled out in the offer letter or joining letter.

Hope I helped you understand the difference between the joining letter and the appointment letter, offer letter. Also, you can find a variety of formats on the internet.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is partially correct. Offer letters typically precede joining letters, which confirm acceptance. Appointment letters formally appoint an individual. Offer and joining letters differ in purpose and content.
