Hi Everyone,

I have recently resigned from my current company, which has a notice period of two months, of which one month is compulsory to serve. My date of resignation is the 10th of September, and my relieving date, as confirmed, is the 9th of October. The company I will be joining has confirmed the balance notice period buyout.

My query is - If I wish to take a break from the 10th of October to the 20th of October and then join the new company on the 21st of October, will this period be counted in the notice buyout period of the new company? Please advise. Awaiting your valuable suggestions.

Hello Pooja, First of all, do YOU think it’s ethical even if they agree, for a moment forgetting the rules part? Rgds, TS

Dear,

Notice period buyout is for you, not for your prospective employer. They bear it for you to join them at the earliest. If they are willing to give you a break, it is fine.
