Dear Seniors,
One of my friend is working as HR and Admin Executive. This is her first job. What she is facing is teasing of most of the employees. Everytime, few employees comes to her and tease her that admin people are just like peon. Job responsibility of admin people is just same as peon. Be it dealing with MCD people for cleaning, be it dealing with sweeper for office cleaning or anything. I have tried to convince her that its not like that. Many times, she has complained to her higher management as well but the higher management also laughs and always says that don't worry the employees are just kidding...
Please suggest me that what should I say to get her convinced and also what should she do.

next time those employees want anything.... from a piece of paper to salary sheets etc...tell them to go ask the office peon..
just tell ur friend to take a chill pill and not pay too much attention to those jerks. It clearly shows how ill-mannered they r n hence no point spoiling her mental peace for them.

No, admin job is not like peon. Every job has its own respect. Plz tell ur friend not to dishearten coz this is wrong to underestimate. Tell ur friend to tell other ppl what are the responsibility of peon and Admin ppl. She is educated, must be getting more than peon sal. ask her to be strong coz no one has the right to hurt anyone self respect.

Next time they will do like that means, u just tell ur frined say like this, " just smile and say i have no problem for this position because, u r my senior and previously u people also do this work only right then why should i feel bad........"

This is the major problem is there as HR is facing problem like this then wat ll happen with others u can think out.
This is the very common thing to pulling to each other I think ur friend is very shamy so c need to be frank nd shuld reply in d same way.
But fisrt c must have to avoid these and concentrate on her work otherwise people ll do more entertainment with her.
C cshuld behaves like a professional if anyone entertaining with her…c shuld avoid and give a critical smile on the person as c is not interested in such gossips.

I think Deepti's advice is good. If a peon will not come then for glass of water you cant get perfectly on time at your desk..Toilets will be not clean,office will be not clean ,you wont get stationaries even ..lunch you wont get...so many problem will face..people will laugh but if boss is not coming for one day then work can be wont stop other will do but if your office peon will not you can see incomplete tasks...so next time tell them the same...may be I'm a peon but you will miss me when I wont be there.....even you cant do these teasing even...:icon1: take this thing positive & dont give any attention...

There can be such problems everewhere in the work place. It is on us that how we take it. I have seen many people who takes everything in mind. i know one of my collogue, she takes even a small comment seriously and quarrels with everyone. Even when somebody looks at her PC she gets irritated that what right they have to peep into her PC!
In this case, I think as the management says they must be joking as she gets too worried or irritated immediately. Tell her to take it very easy, and try to tackle them friendly. If she keeps complaining and not trying to solve it herself it will not end. Time will prove her talent and position

Tell your friend not to give any type of attention and dont show any interest what they are telling. They will say this for few more days after that what even they will get bored of same topic and teasing why to spoil her mood, just ignore or ask her to take this in positive way dont they know HR & Admin are the backbone of company. You know many people have habit of passing comments which can kill person inside better to ignore them, dont take it seriously any day.

Surprisingly we use the same term 'peon' as well in Malaysia. But already got rid of that position,
I agree with Deepti's remark. All in all every career in an organisation is equally important - what a big deal?

Hi Shweta,
All this happening because your friend is taking it seriously and she is getting affected. Actually people are enjoying a lot teasing your friend. Ask your friend to take such comments in a very light manner. She should let others know that she is not at all affected by their comments. As long as she is getting irrited this will happen to her, the day she starts taking all this easy everything will stop.
