Dear Sir,
Today i've a heated argument with my colleague who is a Civil Engineer.
And according to this argument there is no need to have any HR People and HR Department in an organization. The reasons are
1) For recruting candidates there are technial people who will decide and give that responsibility to any consultancy.
2) And for any payroll etc, they can give it any outsourcing people and no need to have HR Dept.
3) Managing the manpower is not a big issue.
And i feel that this is a prestigious issue.
Requesting you to give me the correct answer.
Regards,
K. Ravi Kumar.

Dont argue with him just ask him who are the consultants, they are also doing the HR work and who is the pay-roll guy he is also doing the HR work and the interesting one is managing people, ask him yo manage one day with out a Manager or Leader... they are the HR's
it is not that HR can do any one....no it needs some qualities and only those can do it... if you ask your Civil Engr frined to work as HR, he knows nothing and he wont be able to handle it.... likewise if he asks you to do the Civil planning etc you will not be doing it....
hope you got it what i meant
Thanks

I feel sad that you are in HR because you do not know the importance of HR. You cannot defend the importance of your profession.
HR is always called as "Human Resource Management and Development"...anybody can MANAGE "Human Resources" but to DEVELOP them you need trained and qualified HR Professionals.
You need to manage the talent.
You need to pay the salary which is at par with Industry Standards for that you need HR Professionals who can do research and find out the industry standards.
You need to retain employees, for that you need to innovate retention strategies.
Good leaders are retiring, they will not there for 100's of years...you need to develop future leaders, for that you need good "Executive Coaches" and effective succession planning. Hence, need for good HR prfessionals.
There can be many more areas.
I hope this will help. For more information, visit my BLOG.

HR is just a job,
Your friend thinks HR is not required, and you want to prove to him that HR is very important.
Now listen, dont make others beleive that HR is really necessary for the organisation, and you as HR are very important to the company, HR job is a normal job.
Most HR think too high of themselves, and overestimate themselves and they themselves have this high attitude. .
If HR is that much important, let me hear that from a non HR person, let me hear from any employee that they like the HR Dept, and it is really necessary.
It is very easy to praise oneself.
But the real credit comes when someone else praises your work.

I do not want to get into an argument with a person "who cannot " express his identity. Either he do not have any or he is too shy to express.
Its ok with me...I do not have to explain or share achievements or successes of HR with a stupid, egoistic and arrogant person. Thinking thw way...you think, every job is a normal job...what is so special in being engineer or a doctor...they are just doing a normal job...apply your mind...before you say anything.

It is common for all to praise themselves that they are the one behind everything.
If you ask a Marketing guy, obviously he will tell you, he is making money for his orgn,
If you ask a production man, he may tell you, he is keeping the organisation moving.
If you ask a finance person, he will tell you, without finance you cannot do any thing.
If you ask an HR Man, he will tell you his importance. It is directly proportional to the head counts. As it goes upwards, you can not survive without an HR team.
Organisations with very litte no. of employees can do up to a cetain extend without HR, but if they want to grow further, and do not have an HR team.........
How would they do manpower planning?
How would they do Job analysis?
with out these two, how would they do recruitment?
and just think about the rest....
Can you think modern world can work better without modern HR?

Hi Friends,
Nice comments from all of you!
Hey Ravi!
Being an Hr u must know the importantance of an HR in the organisation. If an employee passes an orgument like this first u should able to defend it.
"An HR should be given an equal importance as a Strategic business partner with CEO because importance of an HR never be under estimated." This is the latest comment on HR.
I can say you one thing an HR can become a Technocrat by working hard but if u want to become an HR u should possess certain skillset and Leadership qualities which are not so easy to a Technocrat.
How ever each specilization has got its own importance so I would say an Organisation is a mixture of all sorts of people. So u can not underestimate an Engineer or an HR professional.
This is the attitudental problem of that person. Thats why HR always empasizes on organisational culture and Ethics because these sort of guys can polute the organisatinal culture and peace.
First u pls try to learn what an HR is all about with out that u can't survive in this field because its a very important and sensitive function in the org
asition.
Please ensure that u can convince ur employee with the reality.
If u want more clarifications pls let me know.

you cannot ask a carpenter to do the job of a doctor. is it not correct? Toady's turmoil in the society is because of such type of thinking people who think a carpenter can also do the job of a doctor. They must correct and update their thinking patterns and structure. Or elase such people will continue to create flutters and turmoil in the society and are stumbling blocks in the graowth of India. If anybody is capable of doing any job then specialisations are not required. All colleges and professional institutions should be closed down. Why spend so much time , money and energy on learning new subject/specialisation.
Fight with logic and reality. Fight small diwali bomb with an atom bomb.Don't be silent. Don't flight. i have also come across such spurious thinking people. I have observed people in the level of Director who do not have the specialisation of HR but got the position due to their good networking and connections with politicians. Exceptions are always there. but exception does not prove the rule. Let HR community maintain its identity. we ahev to pay price for it. Never mind. But HR professionals should be faithful to their profession.

Dear Sir, (VARANASI)
Thank you very much for your information. Actually i'm working as a Commerical Assistant. I've done my PGD in HRM through Andhra University (Distance Mode). At present trying to learn the complete subject (both theoritically & Practically). But no body is helping me in this regard.
And through this CiteHR i'm able to learn some things about HRM.
And coming to the point regarding defence, first of all i donot have that much grip on subject so that's why i keep quiet.
