I think you list down pros and cons and after comparision arrive at decision. Switchng needs leaving some skills and acquiring other skills and a new start. you can approach HR consultant and as well companies where your experience would add value to new role. yes, there is some learning curve.

Hello,
I think you've got all the basic skills to switch over, and you're actually over-qualified for the recruitment job. It is absolutely possible for you to switch over. The only way to do it is to write out your resume and post it on job sites and share it within your business network.
Good luck.

Hello gayu.kunjithapatham,
While you can shift to Recruiting, a LOT depends on YOUR reasons for doing so--mere interest/liking wouldn't take you far. I think your thread can draw more suggestions if you elaborate the reason(s) WHY.
Prima-facie, your being a software engineer will definitely help you to evaluate job-seekers in the recruiting function much better than those with just HR qualifications & non-technical background. But this SHOULDN'T be the sole justification/reason for making the move.
All the Best.

Well, pursuing PGDBA (HR) shows that you've already decided - didn't understand the need for your query.

Mere interest & conducting interviews of freshers cannot be the justification for your move. Recruitment in itself is a huge subject. Before switching to a new role it is suggestible that you understand what are types of recruitment, how does the process go, understanding the requirement & deadlines, constraints in terms of opportunity for ONLY technical recruitment, what if you explore to non technical recruitment - will that interests you?, is HR generalist your final step as you are pursuing a PG course in it.

Moreover are you targeting companies or consultancy, will you be able to fetch higher package then what you are earning now, how far will it take you with mere interest & a degree.

Pl do not misunderstand, am not trying to demotivate you. You already have good 4+ years experience with a degree & PG (pursuing) which in itself is sufficient for you to get a job but GETTING JUST JOB !!!

It is well said "where there is a will, there is a way"

Take guidance from your family too..
