Hello everyone,
I have just joined this wonderful community and hope to gain lot of learnings from everyone in this group.
I have an issue and i would love to have your commments on the same. I am working as an HR Executive in a software firm with 1.2 yrs exp with a start up company in Pune. We have currently about 26 employees. My current take home salary is about 18k now and i have my appraisal 2 months from now.
I would like to know if i am fairly compensated now or not. Also, what is the kind of salary appraisal (percentage wise) which i can ask for.
Please do help me out on this.
Thanks in advance......Deep

Hi Manish,
Do you mean to say that my current salary is fair as compared to the market standards??
What kind of appraisal percentage can i ask for considering the fact that i have four recruiters working for me and i am both into recruitment and complete selection activities?
Thanks..Deep

Deep...
I think you are getting a good amount for your experience. BUt then you must be really good. :)
I would say somewhere around 15 % or so would be a good hike. But if you are toooo good then you can even think of 20 % or so..
All the best..

Hi Sush,
Thanks for your reply. Would 15-20 % be the maximum percentage that i can ask? Or could it be more than that? I mean as compared to the huge amount of work i do, i need to be compensated more. Do you mean to say that 15-20% is the average industry hike?
Thanks

Deep,
Need a couple of clarifications:
1) Have you been working in the IT firm for the past 1.2 years?
How much total experience do you have?
The % hike you can ask for would also depend on your company trends and not on industry standards alone.
Does your company have a tendency to pay its performers well?
The standards also differ location wise.Eg. salaries in Mumbai would be higher than Delhi etc. :D
If you have been working with the company for more than a year, you can ask for a 15-20% hike. It can go up to 30% too,but that would depend on
a) Your company policies
b) your performance rating
c) your work experience in the company

Yes Deep,
I think you are getting a handsome salary with this Experience.
I am agree with Samira that it completely depends on your experience with the company. If it is a complete year experience then you may ask for 30%. But as you told that its an startup company so it also depends on the Profit level generation of that Company.

Hi Samaira,
Thanks for taking interest in clearing my doubts.
As for the replies, i have been working with IT Recruitment for the last 1.2 years completely. I joined my present company 6 months back. As for my company, we do pay the employees really well. I mean we do not have a fixed appraisal slab as such. Thus, whoever performs well and shows a keen intersest in growing along with the company, they are paid well.
Thus, what would be the percentage hike which i could ask for?
Thanks......Deep

Hi, I feel your salary is in line with the market trend. If you feel that you are contributing fair enough, you may ask for about 25-30% hike. Regards, Rajan

Hi Deep,
Agree with my colleagues that 20-25 % hike would be reasonable however reading your postings it seems that you are ..
1. Aggressive
2. Ambitious .. :) Good n why not !!
Would suggest that you prepare your performance evaluation in terms of your contribution to the company;s bottomline in monetarily terms.
During your evaluation share this document and don;t show your aggressiveness here as it might put them off...n just be cool and discuss your points.
Best wishes,
