Hello
My company is planning to hire freshers. We will need to invest a fair amount of time, money & effort in training & grooming them. Hence we would like to have some kind of a bond, for say 12 months or 18 months, during which the employee cannot leave us. Should there be a pressing need to leave the company, they can pay a certain amount & leave.
- Can something like this be done?
- Will this be legal?
Seeking opinions & suggestions from the community.
TIA

Hi,
Rather than going for Bond option better use Training Agreement.
As you are going to train Freshers and as the training involves cost and time Training Agreement will be the opt one. When you hire Freshers explain them the requirement and make it very clear as to why you want some commitment. Also explain how the training period is going to beneficial for them in the future. Choose the Freshers who are really interested to join with training agreement condition. If some one is reluctant better ignore them.
Training Agreement is legal provided you need to substantiate the cost involved like software license cost, salary paid for the Senior employees who train them.

Thank you for your suggestions. That sounds like a good option.
1. At a high level, what should the draft of this agreement contain?
2. Should it done on a stamp paper? if yes, how much amount stamp paper is advised?
Thanks again!!

Hi Rs. 100/- stamp paper would be sufficient. Hire the services of an Advocate for drafting Training Agreement or refer online, even this portal for free resources which might not be tailor made.
